The Journey of Koshas: A Poem by KesariSir
Annamaya, the body we wear,
Built from the food, the earth, and the air.
To strengthen this sheath, we eat with care,
Exercise, rest, and breathe with prayer.
We know we’re here by the aches and pains,
The muscles we stretch, the blood in veins.
But remember, this layer is only the start,
For deeper within lies the soul’s true heart.
Pranamaya, the energy bright,
The breath of life, our guiding light.
To grow this force, we practice breath,
Inhale deeply, exhale with depth.
We feel its power in pulse and beat,
In the warmth of the body, the rising heat.
When breath flows smooth, the kosha’s alive,
Energy flows, and the spirit thrives.
Manomaya, where thoughts are born,
Where dreams take shape and worries are worn.
To calm this mind, we meditate still,
Let thoughts drift by, surrender the will.
We know we’re here when the mind runs fast,
Caught in the future or stuck in the past.
But with practice of stillness, the chaos will cease,
And this layer of mind will rest in peace.
Vijnanamaya, wisdom so clear,
Where truth and insight begin to appear.
To develop this stage, we learn to see,
Beyond what is known, to what could be.
We sense we’re here when we question deep,
When the layers of truth begin to seep.
When judgment is sharp and wisdom flows,
This sheath reveals the depth it knows.
Anandamaya, the bliss we seek,
The joy of the soul, the humble and meek.
To nurture this stage, surrender the self,
Detach from desires, from fame and wealth.
We find it here in moments of grace,
In the love that shines from a peaceful place.
When pure joy floods and ego is small,
The bliss of the kosha embraces all.
Built from the food, the earth, and the air.
To strengthen this sheath, we eat with care,
Exercise, rest, and breathe with prayer.
We know we’re here by the aches and pains,
The muscles we stretch, the blood in veins.
